Project Overview and Carbonization Connection

On October 11, 2026, our technical team executed a full operational trial of the Mobile Wood Chipper in our testing workshop. In commercial biomass biochar production, raw material size uniformity is critical. Large, irregular branches cause feed hopper bridging and incomplete pyrolysis inside continuous carbonization furnaces or horizontal kilns.

This trial verified the mobile chipper’s capability to process bushy branches on-site and convert bulky forestry residue into uniform wood chips tailored for downstream biochar carbonization systems.

Key Equipment Features and Operational Workflow

1. Smart Touchscreen Speed Regulation:

The operator adjusted the feed roller and rotor speeds directly via the YKHMI intelligent PLC control panel. By fine-tuning the rotation speed (demonstrated between 360 RPM and 540 RPM), the system easily optimizes chip size based on specific carbonization feedstock standards.

2.Aggressive Hydraulic Auto-Feeding:

Engineers manually fed thick, branched wood with leaves into the heavy-duty feeding chute. The hydraulic feed roller grabbed and pulled awkward, oversized branches into the cutting chamber without manual force or jamming.

3.Directional High-Velocity Discharge :

The high-speed cutting drum pulverized branches into clean wood chips and ejected them through the 360-degree rotating discharge chute directly into a light truck bed for rapid transport.

4.Mobile Diesel Towable Design:

Equipped with heavy-duty off-road tires and a tow hitch, this unit offers flexible field movement across forestry sites, orchards, and municipal parks, enabling primary crushing right where wood waste is generated.

Trial Results and Output Inspection

  • High Pre-Treatment Efficiency: Whole leafy branches were crushed into small, flat wood chips within seconds, significantly reducing transport volume.

  • Ideal Carbonization Feedstock: Physical inspection of the discharged chips confirmed uniform thickness and particle size (approx. 10 mm – 30 mm), perfect for continuous rotary pyrolysis retorts.

  • Clean Field Operation: High discharge velocity ensured zero clogging at the outlet, keeping the workshop testing area efficient and clean.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Why is wood chipping necessary before biomass carbonization?

Answer: Uniform particle size ensures consistent heat transfer during carbonization. Chipping raw branches into small flakes prevents conveyor blockage, reduces internal temperature gradients in the furnace, and maximizes fixed carbon yield.

Question: Can this mobile chipper be integrated into a complete biochar plant?

Answer: Yes. Mobile chippers serve as the ideal portable pre-treatment unit for remote forestry collection, feeding directly into drying, briquetting, or continuous carbonization furnace systems.
