Continuous Drum Carbonization Machine

Continuous Rotary Drum Carbonization Furnace

1. Project Background & Technical Challenge

Forestry and wood processing enterprises in the Czech Republic generate significant quantities of wood chips and wood offcuts. Traditional batch charcoal kilns present major operational and environmental drawbacks:

  • High Labor & Energy Costs: Batch kilns require constant manual loading/unloading and consume large amounts of auxiliary heating fuel.

  • Environmental & Smoke Emissions: Uncontrolled smoke emissions violate European environmental standards for particulate matter and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

  • Uneven Carbonization Quality: Batch processes often result in mixed product quality, leaving unburnt wood cores or producing excess ash.

To establish a sustainable biochar production facility, a Czech client delegation visited Guoxin Group on September 11, 2026, to conduct a comprehensive live trial of our Continuous Biomass Carbonization Furnace.

2. Integrated 4-Stage Continuous Pyrolysis Process

The live factory demonstration proved the system’s ability to maintain unbroken, automated pyrolysis from raw feeding to charcoal output:

[Raw Wood Chips Hopper] ➔ [Inclined Belt Conveyor] ➔

[Continuous Carbonization Furnace] ➔ [Syngas Purification & Flaring] ➔

[Water-Cooled Screw Discharge] ➔ [High-Fixed-Carbon Biochar]

Stage 1: Continuous Automated Feeding

A heavy-duty inclined belt conveyor delivers small wood chips continuously into the airtight inlet hopper. The sealed feeding mechanism prevents ambient air entering the main carbonization drum, maintaining strict oxygen-free conditions.

Stage 2: Oxygen-Free High-Temperature Pyrolysis

The inner rotary drum drives wood chips through multi-stage temperature zones (ranging from drying to high-temperature thermal degradation). The tumbling action of the drum ensures uniform heat transfer to every wood chip.

Stage 3: Syngas Recovery & Self-Sustaining Heating

Combustible gases (carbon monoxide, methane, hydrogen) generated during wood pyrolysis are drawn through a cyclonic dust collector and gas scrubber system. The purified syngas is redirected back into the furnace burners to sustain the carbonization process without external fuel, with excess gas safely flared through the automated combustion stack.

Stage 4: Rapid Water-Cooled Continuous Discharge

Freshly carbonized wood chips pass into a multi-stage water-cooled discharge screw. The jacketed cooling system rapidly drops biochar temperature below 40°C, preventing auto-ignition upon atmospheric contact and delivering clean, cool, ready-to-pack charcoal chips.

3. Production Line Technical Specifications

System Parameter Czech Project Trial Configuration

Environmental Standard Closed-loop gas purification & smokeless flaring

4. On-Site Technical Verification & E-E-A-T Highlights

During the trial, the Czech client delegation evaluated all critical operational parameters alongside Guoxin senior thermal engineers:

  1. Precision Temperature & Frequency Control: Using the WECON PLC touch panel, engineers demonstrated real-time frequency modulation for drum rotation speed and feeding rates, optimizing retention time based on raw material moisture.

  2. Superior Carbon Density & Fixed Carbon Content: Visual inspection of the discharged charcoal confirmed complete carbonization with intact fibrous structure, high structural integrity, zero unburnt wood fragments, and low ash content.

  3. Smokeless Energy Self-Sufficiency: Once operational temperature was reached, external LPG fuel supply was turned off, and the plant ran completely on recycled wood syngas, validating the energy-saving capability of the Guoxin design.
