Project Date: January 5, 2026

Location: Longnan, Gansu Province, China

Input Materials: Timber Waste, Local Wood Logs, Coal Powder

Output Products: High-Density Charcoal Logs, Industrial Coal Briquettes

Project Background & Local Policy Alignment

In early 2026, a regional energy enterprise in Longnan, Gansu, required a solution to consolidate two waste streams: forestry residues from local timber processing and coal fines from regional mining activities.

  • Gansu Energy Policy: This project aligns with the province’s “Green Energy Transformation” initiative, which provides subsidies for industrial-scale biomass utilization and coal-to-clean-energy conversions.

  • Client Requirement: A high-capacity system capable of continuous operation to meet the winter heating demand in Northwest China while maintaining strict dust emission standards.

System Configuration & Core Equipment

The plant utilizes a dual-stream processing logic, allowing for both independent and blended production of charcoal and coal briquettes.

  • Continuous Rotary Carbonization System: Features a high-capacity kiln designed for timber logs, achieving a 98% carbonization rate through controlled pyrolysis.

  • High-Pressure Briquetting Press: A heavy-duty mechanical press for coal powder, utilizing reinforced rollers to ensure high-density molding for industrial fuel.

  • Industrial Crushing & Fine Grinding: Equipped with a stainless steel micro-pulverizer for refining carbonized material before molding.

  • Automated Packaging & Logistics: A high-efficiency bagging system designed for 5kg to 25kg industrial and retail-grade packaging.

Integrated Process Flow

  1. Carbonization: Raw timber is processed in a rotary kiln to produce high-fixed-carbon charcoal.

  2. Size Reduction: Carbonized timber and raw coal fines are crushed to <3mm.

  3. Mixing & Conditioning: Materials are blended with eco-friendly binders in a double-shaft mixer.

  4. Molding: The mixture is fed into high-pressure presses for either multi-hole logs or oval briquettes.

  5. Drying & Packaging: Finished products are dried to <5% moisture and packaged for distribution.

Operational Performance Data

Technical Note: Performance data is based on the 2026 Gansu site commissioning reports.

  • Input Capacity: 5-8 Tons per hour (blended feed).

  • Output Efficiency: 1 Ton of high-grade charcoal produced for every 3 Tons of dry timber; 95% yield for coal briquetting.

  • Emission Control: Dust concentration maintained below 20mg/m3 via integrated pulse bag filters.

Economic Benefit & ROI Analysis

For the Gansu market, the primary value driver is the significant price gap between raw coal fines and processed industrial briquettes.

Client Feedback

“The integration of the timber carbonization kiln with the coal powder press allowed us to stabilize our winter fuel supply. The high density of the briquettes has significantly reduced our breakage during transport across the Gansu-Qinghai border.”
